Add and delete nicknames

You always start your citizenship with a primary nickname - which is the one you've applied for citizenship with. You're free to add (register) up to 5 additional nicknames and change between them whenever you want. All your additional nicknames are protected the same way as your primary nickname. This is how to add additional nicknames:

1. Click the [Controls] and go to your control room.
2. Click the [Nickname Control] and it opens a form in which your primary nickname is already listed as a link.
3. Enter a new nickname (Note: Of course you can't add a nickname which is already in use).
4. Click the MakeChange button and your new nickname will be added as a link in the form.
5. Click the link if you want to change its properties in the nickname form.

Note 1:
Your nickname may not be longer than 32 characters.

Note 2:
SOI automatically creates an e-mail address affiliated with your new nickname!

Note 3:
SOI automatically creates a file directory (folder) on the SOI server affiliated with your new nickname.

Note 4:
You can create a special "home page" affiliated with the new nickname.

Note 5:
You always can change between your nicknames on the fly. Just replace your nickname with one of your others in the From: box.

Note 6:
You can change your primary nickname whenever you want and choose another one from your additional nicknames.

You can delete a nickname any time you want and replace it with another. If you delete a nickname - the  file directory (folder) associated with the nickname - the contents in it and the associated email address will be deleted as well.

1. Click the [Controls] and go to your control room.
2. Click the [Nickname Control] and it opens a form in which all your nicknames are listed as links.
3. Enter the nickname which you want to delete and check the Delete radio button.
4. Click the MakeChange button and your nickname will be deleted from the list in the form.

Color your nickname

As a citizen - you may color your nickname as you like. You've 2 options on how to color your nickname - the "Set Simple Nickname Colour" and the "Set Fancy Nickname HTML". Both options are done in the same form and you can only use either one.

1. Click the [Controls] and go to your control room.
2. Click the [Nickname Control] and it opens a form in which all your nicknames are listed as links.
3. Click the nickname which you want to color and it opens an additional form
4. Enter the color for your nickname in the appropriate color box
5. Click the associated button

Note 1:
If you don't know how to use HTML - choose the "Set Simple Nickname Colour". Just enter a color name or a color code. You can check out SSR's color chart for colors.

Note 2:
In the "Set Fancy Nickname HTML" - you can also change the font and font size of your nickname . If the font's name contains more than one word then enclose the name within quotes. - A color string may not exceed 512 characters.

Note 3:
There is a neat little freeware application with which you automatically can create a HTML color string for your nickname - called Color Fazer. - which now can be downloaded from #r-bookmark^@soi as well

Enable or disable your whisper

Citizens can freely whisper to each other - i.e. send each other private messages while they are in a chat room. Both must have enabled their whisper.

1. Click the [Controls] and go to your control room.
2. Click the [Nickname Control] and it opens a form in which all your nicknames are listed as links.
3. Click the nickname for which you want to enable the whisper and it opens an additional form.
4. Check the "Whisper On" radio button.
5. Click the Change Whisper Status button.

Your SOI account

As soon as the SOI management has granted you your citizenship, you'll have your own account at SOI. This means the following:

• A password protected account.
  Each time you arrive to the SOI's entrance, you've to logon with your primary nickname or any of your additional nicknames and your SOI password. This way no one else but you can use your registered nicknames.
• Your own control room from which you can manage all your personal things.
• Your own mail room from which you can send messages to- and/or receive messages from other citizens through the local SOI mail service and/or send or receive e-mails through SOI's mail server.

This is where to change your account set ups:

1. Click the [Controls] and go to your control room.
2. Click the [Account Control] and it opens a form.

There are a number of things you can change in your account form - the most important things you can change there are:

• your  primary nickname - you can only choose a new one from your registered ones.
• your email domain - if you aren't happy with @hyperchat.com - you can choose from a list of other options.
• your account's password.

The date when your account was initiated and when it will expire are always displayed both here and at the top of your control room.
