HISTORY
Slade Wilson was always a strong, determined personality. As a young man, he lied about his age to get into the Army. He quickly distinguished himself and became one of the youngest decorated soldiers.

However, questions began to arise about him as his years of service went on. He recovered from injury far quicker than anyone around him. His reflexes exceeded everyone he served with, and he didn't seem to age. He knew that to continue in the military, he needed to conceal his uniqueness. So at 32, he started on a campaign of deception. He started serving in short stints, lying about his age and identity, leaving after 8-10 years only to re-enlist a few years later. He continued through World War II, Korean, Vietnam. It was in Vietnam that his life changed.

During a guerrilla warfare training session, he was bested by his instructor, Adeline Kane – a woman who matched his fiery personality and displayed superior fighting skills. Sparks ignited immediately between the two, and they quickly fell in love and wed. Shortly thereafter, Adeline gave birth to twin sons, Grant and Joseph. Meanwhile Slade was called up to serve in Vietnam in a black ops unit.

During one incursion they were flown deep into VC territory. It was primarily a recon mission, but they were given orders to hit targets of opportunity. One showed up as they came across a P.O.W. camp.
They proceeded to lay out a plan to free the prisoners. They received operational support in that a small clearing would be used to lift the POW's and the incursion team out. The plan went nearly perfect, except the retrieval team was late. Slade carried three people onto a helicopter. As it lifted off, he turned to see that a half-dozen of his men were being overrun. He was too high to jump, and watched helplessly as they were taken.
Slade immediately demanded that he head up the rescue mission. He was told that a rescue was being planned, but that it would be days, perhaps weeks in the planning, and that he would not be included. Slade did not react well. He stole a Huey and a large amount of ammunition, put on a blue jump suit, and conducted the mission single-handedly. He rescued his men and 3 more prisoners. One of those he rescued was a british officer, Major Wintergreen, who would become his right-hand man.

Slade was strongly reprimanded for disobeying orders, and sent back stateside. He was allowed to continue on active duty, but in a strictly desk duty capacity.

Slade tried to do be the dutiful father and excellent officer, but he couldn't handle the inactivity. In an effort to do something, he volunteered for an experiment involving new truth serums. (NOTE: See OOC Notes for Project Pointman.) The experiment killed the other 47 test subjects, and left Slade in a coma for nearly a month.

It took Slade weeks to learn to talk again. But the experiment, unbeknownst to anyone but Slade, had greatly enhanced his abilities. Slade already possessed enhanced strength, speed, and healing, as well as heightened reflexes and senses. The serum’s effects built on his existing abilities. In addition to this, it enhanced his mental capacity. Whereas the average human utilized 8-10% of their brain capacity, Slade was now at 90%. He could process information instantly, and it added to his already quite formidable fighting skills due to vastly superior mental reflexes.

Slade kept his abilities secret from everyone, however, fearful the military would continue the experiments. Inwardly, he was furious that the military he served and respected would treat their people with such callousness. This anger would come out later in his life.

The experiments also had another unforeseen side effect - an incredible desire to hunt, to use his abilities. He took up big game hunting for awhile, becoming well-known, but it failed to quench his thirst for the thrill of the hunts he once led while on black ops. On one hunt, his guide made a passing comment about hunting 'the most dangerous game' ... and the mercenary known as Deathstroke the Terminator was born.

Slade disguised his activities as an assassin behind his constant big-game hunts. Adeline had no idea, and it helped Slade to gain an appreciation for his family. He would go on hunts – or on assignments – and return calmer, ready for duties as a father. He grew to appreciate his twins more, now six years old. Grant, the oldest by nearly a half-hour, was very much like his father. He was strong, confident, and aggressive. Slade also loved his younger son Joseph. Joseph was as physically gifted as his brother, but he was calm, and exuded an air of peace. He had a natural gift for the arts, be it music or painting. However it was his voice, melodic and heart-wrenchingly beautiful, that Slade loved most.

One of Slade’s contacts hired him to assassinate a Colonel Ibrahim from a middle-eastern country. Ibrahim’s superiors hired a terrorist known as the Jackal to find Slade, and find out who hired him to kill the Colonel. It took the Jackal months of work to track Slade, going from contact to contact, torturing every one until he found his identity. To gain leverage, the Jackal kidnapped Slade’s sons. This forced Slade to admit to his wife that he was secretly the mercenary known as Deathstroke.

Adeline and Slade (outfitted as Deathstroke) flew to Africa together and met up with Wintergreen. Slade had called him and asked for his help. Wintergreen caught the next flight. Slade & Adeline confronted the Jackal while Wintergreen provided backup. Slade refused to give the Jackal the information he requested, because it would violate his professional code of ethics. Slade believed he could react fast enough to save his sons; he was wrong.
He killed the Jackal and his men, but his sons were killed in the firefight. Adeline was severely wounded. Slade himself was also wounded badly, taking several bullet wounds. He ran to Adeline’s side and tried to comfort her. Adeline, furious at Slade's betrayal and at costing her her sons' lives, pressed the barrel of her .45 to his temple and pulled the trigger.

Only Slade's inhuman reflexes saved his life. He rolled to the right, but she shot through the side of his head. He lost all vision in his right eye due to the injury. Screaming in both physical and emotional pain, he seared the wound closed and fled the scene.

Wintergreen searched for him for over three years. He finally found Slade in the jungles of Cambodia. He had followed the tales of a crazed man-like jungle creature who killed tigers with his bare hands, and left dozens of hunters in his wake.
It took Wintergreen another three months before he finally was able to confront Slade. He helped Slade to regain his senses, and eventually joined him as his number two. While Slade was “missing”, Wintergreen had forged his signature to enable him to act as executor of his and Adeline’s affairs until he finally found him. It seemed only natural he continue in the role. While Slade was missing, Wintergreen used the resources of Slade’s accounts to find and eliminate all of those in the Jackal’s organization to secure Slade’s identity.

Slade continued his activities as the mercenary, Deathstroke the Terminator. Although technically a soldier of fortune, Slade kept his own personal code of ethics, taking only jobs his conscience would allow him to. His approach is simple. He meets with the potential contractor and is given the details of the contract. If he agrees, he gives his fee and is paid in full upfront. If he does not agree, the meeting never took place.

Eventually, having acquired millions from the contracts as well as “incidental spoils”, Slade created Wilson Enterprises, a corporation he has used to diversifying his wealth. WE is now invested into a horde of different companies and industries worldwide.

During this time, he was given a contract to abduct rather than kill. The target was Ben Bourne, a young man who had been in the news for a series of assaults on policemen. It proved his hardest hunt, as the young man was infernally lucky. He also was confronted by a friend of Ben named Kitty Pryde, who further frustrated his efforts. Slade finally decided to use all resources at his disposal, and captured one of Ben’s two friends, Samantha Sorenson.

Over the course of several days, Slade brainwashed her. He twisted her memories and feelings, making her into his devoted lover. Her feelings for Ben were twisted into hate, and she now believed her former life as a college student was merely a cover for her operations with Slade.
Slade also used a modified version of the serum that had been used on him. He mutated Sam’s DNA in a manner similar to how Slade’s had been at birth, giving her enhanced speed, strength, and reflexes, and heightened senses and healing. Within the treatment and brainwashing came intensive mental and psychological training in a number of fighting and combat styles and skills. It took her only a few days of physical training to be incredibly efficient. She was also more aggressive, and enjoyed the violence and pain she was inflicting.

Slade used Sam to capture Ben, but the one Slade was to deliver Ben to had disappeared. Having already been paid, and with no way to contact him, Slade called Ben’s friend Kitty Pryde. For a nominal fee of a half-million dollars, Slade delivered Ben to Kitty. She swore revenge, but kept to the agreement.

Slade decided at that point to relocate corporate headquarters to New York City. He felt it was time to seek power of a different type – political. He joined the Hellfire Club, and then was invited into the Inner Circle. He found in Shinobi Shaw a personality that blended very well with his. Accustomed to working through stealth, Slade was more than willing to serve as the power behind the power, and his role with the Inner Circle was just another step for him.

He was surprised to learn that another member of the Inner Circle was none other than Katherine Pryde. Despite the fact that she despised him utterly, she did not allow it to affect their working together on creating the Hellions, a group of young mutants that could be trained in both their abilities and Hellfire Club tenets. The thought was that he could create a small squad that worked for the Inner Circle.
Slade broiled at what he felt was interference by other members of the Circle. He was accustomed to working alone, to acting independently, and did not feel the need to seek the approval of the Circle in his decisions. Kitty tended to agree with him, and the two of them developed a good working relationship.

Slade and Kitty grew closer each day, working closely on the situations. They came to trust and rely on each other, each calling the other in times of trouble and stress. They continued the façade of distrust before other people, but they knew the truth now. So when the time came that Slade didn’t feel he could continue to work within the Inner Circle, Kitty’s departure came immediately afterward. With their departure, the Hellions were disbanded.

Sam gave birth to twins, Isabella and Christian. It was only a few days after the birth that the three of them were abducted, right under Slade’s nose. Investigation revealed that they were taken by an organization known as HumansFIRST, an antimutant hate group.
Slade went nearly insane in his efforts to retrieve his family. He confronted and attacked every HumansFIRST cell he could find, murdering dozens of their ‘soldiers’ in an effort to gain information. Slowly he began to find information, and put together their operations. When Kitty told him that Ben Bourne, the contract target through whom he met Kitty, had also been kidnapped by HumansFIRST, Slade felt that this was an opportunity for redemption.

It took months to finally locate where Sam, the twins, Ben, and other mutants were being held. Slade and Kitty had gotten a good and trusted friend to infiltrate the complex. She escaped with Isabella, and had fallen into the river after having been shot. Confident but not foolish, Slade and Kitty recruited the help of others in attacking the complex. The group included former Hellions (Bobby Drake, Shelby Dyer), former covert associates (Natasha Romanovski, Raisa Vargas), and others. The assault went nearly perfect. Nearly.
Sam, Christian, Ben, and a number of other mutants were rescued, and the complex was destroyed totally. However, a long-time friend of Slade’s, Raisa Vargas, was killed protecting Christian. She was shot by the HumansFIRST leader, the infamous Ms. Smith.

Soon afterward, Sam revealed to Slade that she had told HumansFIRST all about Slade’s paranormal abilities. He was furious, and viewed this as a betrayal. After several months of tension between the two, Sam served him with divorce papers. The only thing Slade insisted on was joint custody, anything else she wanted he did not deny. Sam asked Slade to look after the kids while she went to Italy for a few days. She was still not fully recovered from the torture she had received at the hands of HumansFIRST and Ms. Smith. Slade agreed, but only days later, he was informed that she was dead. Slade had his people look into it, but it appeared that no foul play was involved.

Slade and Kitty at this point were far closer. They agreed to move the twins to her loft for security purposes. Slade also decided enough was enough. He insisted that their budding relationship, kept private more for him than for her, was now to go public. Enough hiding. The incident with HumansFIRST had convinced him it was time to live life.

They make a wildly interesting pair. The old man and the young woman. The vibrant and vivacious lady with the cool and composed gentleman. Numerous articles have ridiculed their relationship, and have criticized him for everything from robbing the cradle to taking advantage of her for her money. He cares not what others feel about the relationship. He is satisfied that he has found his life.

Slade Wilson is now a father, lover, entrepreneur, major businessman, budding political force, mutant, soldier, mercenary. He is alternately violent and calm, aggressive and passive. He has lived the many decades of his life to arrive in New York City, in this life, in these roles. He likes the road.

Project: Pointman: The experimental program which enhanced Slade Wilson’s natural abilities and gave him new ones. While Slade was told it was a project was to test a new truth serum, in reality it was an attempt by a small governmental organization to covertly create meta-humans for the military – a group of super-soldiers. They experimented on hundreds of soldiers. Slade’s group of 44 were the last ones tested. In the end, the only one who survived was test subject D-41 – Slade Wilson. Slade believes that he was the only one of the human test subjects that was a mutant.
Slade has destroyed all notes and files – computer and paper – involved with this project. He has also killed every member of the research staff, and he took the last of the serum samples. Slade has gone to great lengths and used his contacts within the military to ensure he has completely obliterated any records with information about what was used, the formulae tested, etc. He has allowed the results of the experiments – 217 test subjects, 216 fatalities – to remain in the archives.
Slade has advanced the formula, and with the help of a number of scientists has improved on the original serum – all of whom he “sanctioned” as soon as the work was completed. He will not allow the serum to get into the hands of anyone. Only two people know the location of the remaining samples, and all information is contained on two chips, again only known to two people.

Mercenary Locations: Slade has conducted operations in numerous locations, including Cambodia, Argentina, Guatemala, Philippines, Russia, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Iraq, to name a few. Slade’s name is known to the CIA, Interpol, and other law enforcement officials as a mercenary, but he does not have a criminal record. He has not conducted nor taken part in any operation which involved the deliberate death of innocents or non-combatants, nor any human rights violations.

Deathstroke: Slade’s assassin alter-ego. This name was adopted as Slade started doing contracts. Only a precious few know that the two are the same person. Slade has worked very hard to keep the name secret, although some people do know. His true identity is known only to a very few, mostly high-ranking government officials. Slade is believed to have never taken contracts on US governmental officials, nor conducted any execution contracts on US soil. Slade is also only known to have taken two contracts on US citizens, one on Ben Bourne, the other a Lt. Col. Alan Dawson, a former Marine that was working as a mercenary.

Major Frank Wintergreen (retired): A p.o.w. in Vietnam that Slade rescued. He has since proven himself an incredibly loyal friend. When Adeline and the twins Grant and Joseph were killed by the terrorist the Jackal, and Slade ran off in guilt and grief, Wintergreen forged the documents he needed in order to handle Slade’s affairs for him. Wintergreen appears to all intents and purposes to be as a chauffer or butler to Slade, but the truth is that Slade values his input greatly. Slade is fiercely loyal to Wintergreen also, and has set up both him and his family for life. Wintergreen knows nearly everything about Slade, and often handles the initial contact for potential contracts. He is Slade’s second, despite his age (66, born in 1939).
