Reality, the trash lined street, faceless windows, empty hopes, torn curtains, cockroaches.
The hookers sucking the man off for 10 bucks around the corner.
Addicts banging it up in the alley, behind the trashcan or the box condos that house the homeless.
What is left of the street lamps, cast a hazy halo over the grime on the sidewalks at night.
Old cars, exhaust fumes, the smell of piss.
Bums laced in the alcoves of doorways, huddled against the cold, thunderbird, maddog 22, clutching bottles like forgotten lovers.
Bars on windows, not that anyone has anything worth stealing, unless, of course, you are the dealer.

Would I give you a dime if you asked? Fuck no, maybe a bottle upside your head.
Piss in my doorway, I will hose you down.
Breakdown on the block, I will steal your cash, your car and leave your uptown ass in your tidy whities in a cheap hotel.
Rage lives in dark places, sharp knives, crazed thoughts.
