Rive was born in a small village in St. Croix to Yves and Rachel Ducharmes. Her childhood was that of a typical island girl, until her mother became ill and eventually succumbed. She was still a young girl and the responsibility fell on Yves' shoulders to be both father and mother to his precious daughter, a challenge he took on with great pride. The two had always had a special bond, and the years that followed would further solidify it.

By the time she was a young teen, trouble had broken out in St. Croix and her father became a well-respected leader in the fight to protect his beloved Island and his fellow Frenchmen. She watched from the safety of their home while her father went off each morning, and returned each night sadder than the one before. At her tender age she did not understand the extent of the war that was being waged, but she knew the toll it was taking on him.

It was during this time that she decided, much to his chagrin, that she wished to follow in his footsteps. A choice she would share with him a few years later.

He was insistent that she seek out a safer career, but after many heated debates he finally relented and allowed her to train with his men. He secretly hoped that it would be a phase that was guided by the hormones of a teenage girl and would pass once her curiosity was fulfilled. This was not the case. The young men were taken with her natural beauty, and she used it to her advantage, her smaller stature never being a hindrance. It quickly became evident that she had his instincts and they worked tirelessly to hone her combat skills. She eventually joined the ranks of his team and fought with a passion equalled only by his own.

The battle in St. Croix waged on, things were looking grim but Ducharmes and his men continued the fight without giving a thought to surrender. It was about this time that Yves met a wealthy American by the name of Raymond Shaw.

Shaw had been visiting the Island and had fallen in love with its beauty, despite the fact that there was great civil unrest. He liked his privacy, and the charm of Island living. After several meetings with Ducharmes a deal was struck and Shaw threw his support behind Yves and his 'Men of St. Croix'. Soon, Shaw set up residence in an expansive villa dubbed 'Un Lieu de Refuge'. Ducharmes went to work for Shaw, as did several others of his team. It looked as though the French would prevail in St. Croix then things took a bitter turn. The end result costing Yves Ducharmes his life.

Rive was devastated by the loss of her father. She turned her anguish into determination and picked up where he had left off. Shaw displayed his generosity and gratitude for her father's loyalty and accomplishments by welcoming her into his home and family.

She spent the next few years under his employ, Shaw was impressed with her, and when he happened to witness first hand the depth of her cunning and loyalty he quietly smoothed the way for her to climb the ranks until she sat at his right hand side, overseeing all matters of security for his properties.

During her time at Un Lieu, she developed close ties with Gabrielle Rousseau and Monique Sinclair, bonds she still holds to this day. Brie became a mother figure to Rive, despite only a small difference in age while Nique filled the role of sibling, something she never knew was missing in her life until Nique arrived at the villa.

Eventually Shaw’s business dealings, brought him more and more frequently to the City and on one such trip, a random attack was made on Shaw and his lifelong friend, Alexandra St. John. While in pursuit of the culprit, she took a bullet in the leg; which landed her in the hospital for a few days and led to weeks of rehab.

Laid up, and uncertain of her future, she made the difficult decision to tender her resignation with Shaw and accept the generosity of C.C. Michaels to remain in the City and take up residence with her until she was recovered.

During her stay, she and CC developed a close friendship, and when she was back on her feet CC offered her a position at CKE and The Chicago, heading up the security teams at both locations.

It wasn’t long before she was knee deep in the action again when CC found her life was in danger. A man by the name of Molinaro had sent a mercenary by the name of Patrick McGee to the City to eliminate her. Before Mac discovered who his target was, he and CC had fallen in love while a mistrustful Rive looked on. Once Mac discovered the truth, he knew he wouldn’t be able to complete the job and turned on his client. With the help of his contact at the DoJ he was able to track Molinaro in Mexico where his house exploded and he and his family were presumed dead. To finish up his commitment to Donner, Mac was sent on a drug raid where his chopper went down, he was able to save Donner and the pilot but heroism always has a price.

Rive stood by her friend while she dealt with Mac’s death, and when it was clear her grief was just too much, she called the one person she knew who could give CC what she needed. Within days, CC was packed up and off to Greece with Micah Gault and she found herself alone in the City.

It was about this time that Raymond Shaw contacted her and offered her a position at Three Fingers of Jazz. Rive gratefully accepted. The club was new, fresh and it’s location promised to keep things a little lively, which suited her just fine.

Things were just starting to settle again when she received a call from Erich Donner late one night. This call would change everything. Molinaro had survived the blast, but not his wife and children, word was he blamed Mac and now intended to have vengeance the only way he could, through Mac’s loved ones. He spoke of a witness that was being held in protective custody and needed her expertise in keeping this one alive and tracking Molinaro. Without a word to anyone, she packed her bags and was on a flight to Europe the next morning.

She’d been gone more than a year, a lot has changed. She’s travelled the world while tracking Molinaro and working for Donner. They were closing in on Molinaro when he went deep underground and his trail went cold. Then she got word of the explosion in the City, killing CCs grandfather and injuring her and she knew it was time to come home.

In one of those ironic twists that life sometimes throws at you, she finds herself back at the helm of Raymond Shaw’s security team, stepping in for her predecessor Carin Sullivan; who, after the attacks on the RSI towers decided that it was time for some well earned R&R.

She’s home, she’s settled and waiting for the next chapter in her life to begin.
