Magarida Alavares
Magarida Alavares came in to this world in a small village outside of Havana. She led a charmed life, filled with a zest for living and loving. The youngest of four children and the only girl. At five, she escaped from Cuba and moved to Miami before her family finally settled in a comfortable barrio in Los Angeles.
She rebelled as most teens do, got in to some trouble, but she managed to turn her life around. She moved from Los Angeles to the City. Uncertain of what to do with her life until she was discovered and offered a contract as a model. With the help of Ashley Singleton and CKE, it didn't take long before she rocketed to the heights of celebrity as a supermodel. Being in the public eye and scrutinized constantly takes its toll.
Two years ago she was happy, in love, engaged to be married to Brian Iannone, and pregnant with their child. She had always had a flair for fashion, even before she became a supermodel and had taken steps to starting her own designer fashions. Successful in her professional and personal life. She was someone who truly loved life. Very much a sensual being.
She could never have imagined in her wildest dreams on that morning nearly two years ago that her life would turn out as it had.
The Dubai Years
Something that she has learned in her life is that life is a series of paths that you choose, choices made. Sometimes the fates are kind and at other points it seems as if they are exacting payment for some past sins. The last thing that she remembers of that morning was sitting down to breakfast with her daughter in their hotel room in Los Angeles. After that, things got very fuzzy. She woke to find that both she and her daughter were in the presence of strangers, on board an airplane. Kamil Basil ibn Akim was a man who got what he wanted. And what he wanted was Magarida Alavares. it did not seem to pose a problem for him to stage an accident. Family and friends mourned the death of 'Rida and her daughter and the unborn child. Little did they know that in a strange land, they were all alive.
She woke from what she hoped was a bad dream to find herself in a world not of her choosing. A new life that was chosen for her by a man that she met casually at a few charity functions. He even gave her a new name, Batul Huriya. Her face was hidden from the world behind a burka. She was dead to family, to friends. She had no influence in his world. The people surrounding her were loyal to him.
It wasn't until one day when she was allowed out on one of the few outings that she had a chance meeting with someone who recognized her. The walls that held her back from the world, now tumbled down. Robert Gast, a friend and a former lover, helped her to plan her escape. That escape came with a high price to pay. Told that her son had been killed in a car accident, she had to leave without him. Devastated, she returned to the United States and to the City to try to begin again.
And then during a phone call, she heard a tiny voice say, "Hello Mommy." Her son is alive. The last words she heard on the phone were Kamil's..."I will let you think on this for awhile..... Batul." And then the phone clicked off. With the help of a band of angels, her son is now back in the city. Those angels risked their lives to save her son and it is something that she will never forget and isn't sure how she would ever repay them for the gift that they have given her.
She has returned to her old life. Starting over again and making touch with old friends. Taking a chance on love and making plans for the future. Starting up her fashion design business and trying to put the past behind her. But it seems that her past has followed her to the City in the form of Kamil Basil ibn Akim. She will do whatever she has to in order to protect her family and her friends from the twisted mind of that mad man. He has already convinced a dear friend that He is a changed man. She is not nearly so easily convinced.
I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I'm leaning on the everlasting arms
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
See I was on the verge of breaking down
Sometimes silence can seem so loud
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me, oh
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
Hey, cuz I believe in me, oh
If I can see it, then I can be it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
