Ingredients
1 small onion
tomato ketchup
sugar
malt vinegar
soy sauce
Encona Hot pepper sauce or Tobasco sauce
half a can of chopped tomatoes
tomato puree
Optional extras
lemon/lime juice
garlic or garlic puree
Method
in a small bowl add 2 tblsps of malt vinegar (add lime or lemon juice) to one finely diced onion (could try one finely dice clove of garlic or garlic puree). leave to stand for 10 mins or so. this is to allow the onion to cook in the acid of the vinegar.
then add 3 heaped teasps of sugar and mix in until sugar dissolves.
add 2 tblsps of ketchup. generous glug of soy sauce. generous glug of tobasco/hot pepper sauce (gives it the kick!). and then add half a can of chopped tomatoes. finally squirt in enough tomato puree to make the sauce thick enough to dip.
Leave to chill for a while in the fridge and then get stuck in!
I dunno if this idea already lives but i just made it out of my own brainwave and it was really good. :-D
