Morrighan Nic Fortune

As far as Morrighan knows, she was orphaned as an infant when her mother died a few days after giving birth to her (No one knows who Morrighan's father is, except for Morrighan's mother and she probably would'nt tell you anyways). In truth Morrighan is the daughter of Madame Fortune herself, sometimes also known as Lady Luck. Madame Fortune had a dalliance one night and came away with Morrighan (Truth to the fact that no one escapes the whims of Fate, not even one of it's own). Madame Fortune quickly set up an identity and history on this shard realm of Earth and shortly after giving birth and naming her daughter, Madame Fortune had Morrighan placed at St. Bridget's Home For Girls in Dublin Ireland by the lawyer who had served her altar ego in this realm. He was also charged with overseeing Morrighan's sizable inheritance till Morrighan turned 18. Madame Fortune then returned to her duties and travels, leaving her daughter behind.

Raised by the staff at St. Bridget's, Morrighan grew to be healthy and strong. A bright, active child with an unexpected studious streak, Morrighan was a good student. She had an especial love for music and she learned to play the Celtic lap harp, guitar and the flute at an early age. St. Bridget's choir master also singled her out for voice lessons much to Morrighan's delight. Morrighan's flaws tended to be her insatiable curiosity, a stubborn streak a mile wide and a somewhat quick temper. This is balanced out by an open, friendly nature, an unshakable loyalty (once given) and a generous spirit.

Things got interesting for Morrighan when she was around eight years old. She contracted a near fatal case of scarlet fever. During one of the worst fever dreams, Morrighan's Mage talents rose to the fore with her Avatar waking up. For eight hours Morrighan was lost in a cycle of vivid, terrifying nightmares, and waking dreams. Morrighan got clued to the true nature of reality (it's just a subjective illusion), guided by her newly wakened Avatar (A silver, bat-winged angel with glowing crimson eyes) The staff at St. Bridget's to this day refuse to discus the strange goings on that happened whilst Morrighan was fighting for her life and to tame her newly gained, wild Talent.

During her long convalesce, Morrighan was tended to by a nurse who was also a Mage. She helped Morrighan refine her control of her talents and gave her a few valuable pointers on being a Mage. When Morrighan was finally recovered, the nurse left, leaving Morrighan to find her own path. Along with her regular studies, Morrighan began reading obsessively. Picking up clues and spells from various sources. Anywhere from fairy tales and role playing game books to books on quantum physics and psychology. Slowly she pieced together her own path to her arte.

When Morrighan turned 13, she received an electric guitar from her mother's now her lawyer. Entranced by the idea (And admiring the guitar work of Alex Lifeson (Of Rush), Joe Satriani and various other musicians, Morrighan taught herself to play an electric guitar. She also began sneaking out of St. Bridget's at this time (aided by her artes) during the night, slowly insinuating herself into the underground club scene in Dublin. It was here she met other young, self taught mages like herself. She soon joined a Goth-band-Hollow One Mage coven by the name of Wild Hunt. She built a reputation as a competent Mage and an excellent guitarist. Always one to sit in on jam sessions with other musicians and fill in if another band needed a guitarist. She and her band mates started traveling around The British Isle and Europe going to the clubs to perform or to party, seeking other Magus. Morrighan quickly learned that a flashy Mage is a dead Mage and one should work to keep a low profile as a Mage.

Shortly after Morrighan turned 18, Morrighan graduated from St. Bridget's, gained control of her large inheritance and got accepted at Trinity to study music. Three month after Morrighan started at Trinity, her lawyer urged her to go look after some property she held in Shadow city. With her typical sense of adventure (For she always wanted to see America) Morrighan transferred to the University in Shadow city and took herself to oversee Fortune's Loom Occult & Curiosity Shoppe.

Though Morrighan likes Shadow city, the place disturbs her deeply ( "I feel like I've just sat down on a lit powder keg" ). She knows that something is going on but not sure what it is. For now, she watches and waits. After all, Smart ones choose a position carefully and tend to be rather fond of breathing.

((A note to those Children Of The Night; Since Morrighan is a daughter to Madame Fortune and hence a Mage with an awakened Avatar, those who take a drink of her blood will find that it hits them like a very bad acid trip. So drink at your own risk ;-).......))

Shortly after setting up in Shadow City, Morrighan was called away to do sessions work down in LA for various bands. She stayed for more than a few months in Los Angeles, laying down guitar tracks and other more arcane things. While she was there, she had to help a group of other Mages and assorted Awakened stop a Nephandus Mage-Lord from coming in and turning the City of Angels to literal Hell on Earth. Needless to say she is quite glad to be back in Shadow city and hopes to look up old and new friends. She will not discuss what has gone down in LA, but it may come back to haunt her if she's not careful.
